Meow!

One word: Hot

Lost Boys

I love love love this film. It seriously has always been an absolute favourite of mine and watching it today inspired me to devote a post to it.
The whole aesthetic of the film is to die for. The eighties in California was an absolute overload of colour, attitude and hair product. The film was set on the Santa Cruz boardwalk right on the sunny coastline. This location thanks to its fun park and sunny mass populated seaside atmosphere is the perfect place for a deep and dark underground of teenage vampires to thrive largely unnoticed. It is this mix of light and dark that is visually rich and stimulating and the perfect setting for a vampire movie.

The fashion too is worth note as it was achingly cool. The whole film is littered with worn t-shirts, faded denim and jackets that op shoppers would drool over. Accessories had that effortless look that was so appealing. Big eighties sunglasses, overloads of bangles, large drop feather earrings and colourful silk scarves. All of which were applicable to male and female characters. So often when trying to achieve this type of look yourself it looks too contrived or too deliberate. Take it slow and skimp on the hair gel.

oh yeah and go and watch this film...now!

Fetish free admiration

Guess who these divine Laboutins belong to?
These are the feet and heels of the divine Kristin Davis from Sex and the City. I took a few paparazzo style pics of them at a party whilst she was in Sydney recently. I admit this may seem weird but it comes from a strictly fashion based mentality I assure you.
The shoes were a classic peep toe patent pump with a super high heel. Good choice in my opinion

Latest Buys:

This beautiful white lace top is by Zimmermann. It is fitted all over but has exaggerated shoulders. I love how sheer it is also so it will be perfect to layer with.
I put this top into a preppy Upper East Side ensemble. Very Blair Waldorf.

These amazing pants are made by Willow and I simply adore them! I already own the matching camisole but could not help myself buying the pants as well.

Strength to Strength

Like everyone else in the fashion world I too am perpetually wiping drool from the side of my mouth every time I see something created by Alexander Wang. His new 2010 Resort collection is no exception. Picture a lighter yet still predominantly neutral colour palette, a somewhat neater less grungy approach yet still with strong and sexy model off duty inspirations.

Wang continues to grow every collection and seems unstoppable thanks to his mass following. Each collection he has presented depicts a new evolution of the Wang girl. She is inherently grungy yet growing ever more sophisticated. This resort collection has a sportswear element anchored throughout thanks to its strong inclusions of shorts, anoraks and drawstring, pocket and zippered finishings. However you can't take the downtown out of this girl. She is still staying true to her heritage through cross over midnight blue sequin skirts paired with unkempt sweaters, effortless jersey t-shirts, shredded relaxed fit jumpers and motorcycle jackets. That effortlessly flawless appeal is still strong.

This collection appears a stray away from Wang's highly regarded style at first glance  but upon closer inspection it is him at his most sophisticated and luxurious to date.

Introduction

Welcome to Style-Centrality!
This is my window to explore and share my own fashion thoughts and muses. Sometimes  these are clothes, sometimes  they are models and sometimes they are completely irrelevant but inspiring streams of nothingness.
Its hard living in Sydney as we are so far away from the hot spots of Paris, New York and London but if I can pass on anything to you it is that we are more than capable of staying up to the minute with the latest and also that we ourselves have so much to offer.

Enjoy!
